Parking permit
The benefits of holding a parking permit are stipulated by Act No. 8/2009 Coll. on Road Traffic.
A driver of a vehicle with a parking permit:
- may park in a space reserved for vehicles transporting persons with disabilities,
- may not observe the parking ban for the time strictly necessary,
- may, if necessary, enter a place where a traffic sign indicates that entry is permitted only to a limited number of vehicles and to a pedestrian zone; at the same time, he/she must not endanger road safety; this authorization does not affect the driver’s obligation to obey the instructions, summons or orders of a police officer.
The parking permit of a disabled person shall be placed at the front of the vehicle so that the front of the vehicle is clearly visible for inspection purposes.
How to obtain a permit
The Office will issue a permit to a person with a disability if:
- The valid decision on the parking permit indicates that he or she has a disability listed in Annex No. 18 or
- is dependent on individual transport by a passenger motor vehicle according to a comprehensive assessment, which was the basis for a legally valid decision on a cash compensation allowance.
The office will issue a parking permit to a person with a disability who, according to a comprehensive assessment, meets the condition of dependence on individual transport by a passenger motor vehicle, immediately on the basis of their interest in a parking permit (without issuing a decision).
If a person with a disability has not been issued a comprehensive assessment in the proceedings on a cash compensation allowance, or does not imply that the person with a disability is dependent on individual transport by private motor vehicle, but is interested in a parking permit, it is necessary to apply in writing to the competent Office of Labour, Social Affairs and Family. The authorized person may also apply for a parking permit by submitting an application electronically and signed with a guaranteed electronic signature of the authorized person.
